What To Do On Your Day Trip to Denver

A day trip to Denver isn’t a quick experience, with 2 hours roundtrip driving from Colorado Springs to Denver, and many things to see while you’re there. Some of the local favorite activities to do in Denver are the museums, theme parks, and visual experiences. 

The Denver Botanical Gardens is a 24 acre garden that is a once in a lifetime experience. Once you enter the park you can explore the gardens as you please and visit their gift store or have a meal at one of their garden-themed restaurants. The Denver Art Museum always has different temporary exhibits that stay open for a few months at a time. The Museum has multiple gift shops and offers classes, summer camps, and memberships. There are multiple floors with different exhibits on each, and the architecture of the building is art itself. The Denver Art Museum asks that you buy tickets in advance to better the experience for everyone. 

One of the largest museums in Colorado is the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, featuring gift shops, interactive areas, films, events, restaurants, and more. The Museum is home to some of Colorado’s favorite experiences, including a planetarium, theater, and exhibits of every kind of science. Museum’s hours are 9am-5pm every day and often offers free days, perfect for your day trip to Denver.

Meow Wolf is a company of multiple artists getting together to inspire creativity through art creating an immersive experience. There are multiple locations across the US and the newest is in Denver. Meow Wolf began in 2008 and the maximalist art attracts visitors from all over. Tickets are required in advance to visit and you can stay as long as you please and explore the entire exhibit as well as visit their gift shop. 

Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park in Denver is perfect for getting that thrill you’re craving, the park is appropriate and safe for all ages with rides for the kids, teens, and adrenaline junkies. Inside the park you have access to many different stores, restaurants, gift shops, locker rooms along with the fun itself. Tickets are available online and on arrival, there are season passes and day passes and you’ll want to bring your swimsuit and a comfortable pair of shoes!

Downtown Denver’ Aquarium is a local favorite, walk through and experience first hand over 500 species of marine life. Ticket prices vary depending on what you want to do, there are also small activities throughout the aquarium that cost a couple extra dollars like the interactive Stingray Reef touch tank. Before or After your time in the aquarium, you can sit down and enjoy a meal besides a tank with a live mermaid show!
