The Stanley is one of the Nation’s most famous Hotels, people from around the country come to Colorado just to visit this hotel. If you have heard of the movie “The Shining” you’ll be thrilled to know that this movie was inspired by the Stanley Hotel after Stephen King stayed in suite 217. If you dare to visit the hotel for yourself and see if it’s truly haunted or not, the hotel is open year-round and has amazing views, dining, events, tours, and activities for you to try as well as multiple options for where you would like to stay.

Just east of Estes is the Rocky Mountain National Park where there are 265,807 acres of breathtaking nature. There is a park entrance fee that costs anywhere from $15-$35 depending on how much time you want at the park, click here for more info about fees and passes. Once you enter the park the sky is the limit on what you can do, rent an ATV, dirt bikes, or snowmobiles or bring a raft or kayak to one of the many lakes. Try rock climbing with a belay-certified friend or go on one of their many hiking trails and experience all sorts of Colorado’s wildlife. At the top of Trail Ridge Road is the Alpine Visitor Center which is the highest elevation visitor center in the National Park System at 11,796′ ft.
Enjoy a relaxing 3-hour trolley tour of the history of Estes and relish in views of the beautiful Rockies. Their tours are daily from 9am-12pm and from 1:30pm-4:30pm, there are no reservations required and prices are $80 for adults, and children 12 years and under are $40, this includes admission to Rocky Mountain National Park. Bring your camera because there will be stops at the Stanley Hotel, the 3M Curve, as well as Sprague Lake for a short walk to the lake.
