Colorado Springs Art on the Streets

Colorado Springs Art on the Streets

If you’re heading downtown in Colorado Springs, it’s not hard to notice the beautiful sculptures and artwork that line the street corners. With art exhibits that allow locals and tourists to observe art from around the world, our Colorado Springs Art on the Streets (AOTS) is something fun the whole family can enjoy while visiting downtown (did we mention it’s also FREE?).

Art on the Streets came about in 1998, which has allowed for artists to showcase their work on the streets of our downtown area for 23 years. With over 300 pieces of art exhibited downtown since the beginning of the program, the pieces of art change from year to year. There are, however, several pieces that have been purchased and remain as permanent works. Each year, artists from across the world submit their proposals in hopes to be selected as the next artist to be featured among this outdoor art gallery. This year, 12 new pieces of art can be found along the art walk as the 23rd annual exhibit of the Art of the Streets continues with its beautiful tradition.

If you are wanting to take a tour of the beautiful pieces of art, you have the option of taking a self-guided tour on any night of your choosing. Click HERE for a map of the art pieces and head on over to the app store on your phone and download the Otocast app, where you will find commentary from the artists on the local pieces along the streets. You can listen for the Art of the Streets exhibits specifically or hear about the city’s permanent collection. As you take your walk and check out the sculptures and murals, be sure you cast your votes for the People’s Choice Award Competition for this year. To do so, head on over to https://downtowncs.com/vote/ to cast your vote and explain why you chose the artwork you did.

If a self-guided tour isn’t up your alley, you also have the option of waiting for the First Friday in Downtown, for a walking tour of the downtown arts and cultural highlights. Here, you will find many businesses partaking in the event with art openings, performances, gallery receptions and so much more. Please note that social guidelines are currently in place due to the pandemic, but you are still able to enjoy our First Friday in Downtown each month.
