Fall Foliage in Colorado Springs
Fall is officially here and with that, comes one of my favorite opportunities: checking out the colors of fall as the leaves change and bring a whole different beauty to our already gorgeous state! As the weather brings in cooler, more crisp temperatures, it’s a great time to get out and check the local scenery at our parks and hiking trails. Be sure to include the whole family and bring the camera to snap those family pictures and the beautiful fall foliage. Take a trip through the mountains and catch nature showing off as the trees change alongside the highways in the mountains. Rent a cabin or go camping and enjoy the perfect weather while sitting next to a cozy campfire under the stars. There are so many ways to enjoy fall in the great state of Colorado.
If the fall foliage is your priority, you will need to head out soon as experts expect peak foliage to happen now through the beginning of October. Some great places to check out on a long drive this weekend include Aspen, Grand Mesa, Gunnison, and the Sawatch Range. You can also head southwest to see the Northern and Southern San Juan Mountains and Sangre De Cristo. As October nears, Denver is another great area to check out for fall foliage. This map is a great visual to see where you should head next for peak foliage before it’s gone!
If you would love to spend some time outdoors camping, check out Cheyenne Mountain State Park or the Golden Eagle Campgrounds. You can also head north to the Fountain Creek Campground to enjoy your camping activities. Feeling a bit more adventurous? Head up Pikes Peak and check our Barr Camp (reservations are required for this site)! It truly is the perfect time of year to enjoy all that nature has to give in our beautiful mountains.
