Resolutions for Moving to Colorado Springs

A new year is HERE and we know you are welcoming in 2022 with new goals and resolutions to celebrate and better you and your family. If a new home is on your goal list for the year, we have a few things to add to your list to help make this exciting transition go a little bit smoother along the way!

1. Find a job before you relocate: Colorado Springs is an extremely popular area to move to as the cost of living here is much lower than many other parts of our beautiful state, we have access to all the outdoors people crave when they think of Colorado, we are healthy minded, have a great people to help you along the way, great shopping and food, and gorgeous homes to boot. Really, we can go on and on about why you SHOULD be moving to Colorado Springs, but we do think it’s a great idea to have a good job and a steady income set up before you get here to help make the home finding process go much smoother for you and your family.

2. Do your research: Colorado Springs comprises several smaller communities and neighborhoods throughout the area that offer their own individual perks, cost of living, housing opportunities and more. Knowing which area offers what will help narrow down where you and your family will enjoy the most.

3. Hire an agent: Realtors know Colorado Springs like the back of their hands and can help you with all the questions you may have regarding neighborhoods, costs, housing, schools, shopping, crime rates, mortgage lenders and more. They will quickly become your best friend during this relocation and help you truly find the best home you and your family deserve.

4. Hire Help: Moving is tough, and if you’re moving from a different city or state, it may be wise and helpful to budget in a moving company that will help pack up all your things and transport your home goods to your new home. This will take quite a bit of stress off your shoulders during one of the most stressful times during your life: MOVING! If you choose to do it all yourself, that’s perfectly okay too! Ask local grocery stores and liquor stores if you can have their boxes to pack all your things in. Be sure to have ample supplies of tape, packing paper, and straps to make sure nothing moves during transport. Reserve your moving truck well ahead of time to make sure you have the truck you need when you need it. If you don’t want to transport your items yourself, look into a company like PODS that will do the shipping part themselves.

5. Give yourself time to acclimate: Colorado Springs may be a bit higher in elevation than you are used to. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and be patient with yourself as your body acclimates to the higher altitude.

6. Find your community: While you may have found the neighborhood and home you want, be sure to get out in the community so you can find new friends to enjoy your new life and home here in Colorado Springs. Check out event pages for farmers markets, craft shows, car shows, food trucks and more. Look for a new church that will welcome you and introduce you to new people. Don’t be shy!
